Janice McDonald to depart Howard Park Wines

One of our earliest guests on the Drinks Adventures podcast, brewer and winemaker Janice McDonald, is leaving Howard Park Wines.

McDonald will be leaving her role as director of winemaking at the end of this year, Howard Park announced in a statement.

Chief winemaker at the winery since January this year, Nic Bowen, will oversee winemaking across the Burch Family Wines group.

“Since 2011, Janice has been at the forefront of increasing the quality of our entire portfolio of
wines here at Burch Family Wines,” said founder Jeff Burch.

“Her expertise and skill have been instrumental in both the domestic and international acclaim we have received over the last decade.

“Memorably, the release of our Jeté sparkling collection and the subsequent trophy for Best Australian Sparkling at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships in London is thanks in large part to her brilliance in the winery.

“We have been equally fortunate to celebrate her industry success when she was crowned
Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine in 2018.

“We offer our sincere thanks to Janice for her service and wish her all the best on her future
winemaking endeavours.”
