The Mighty Hunter: Potters Hotel rebadged

Foghorn Brewery at The Mighty Hunter

The Mighty Hunter is the new identity of Hunter Valley craft beer mainstay, Potters Hotel, adjoining Foghorn Brewery Hunter Valley.

Melbourne-based craft beverages business Founders First (now known in the industry as Mighty Craft) recently acquired the Potters Hotel site, installing its subsidiary Foghorn Brewery in the adjoining premises occupied by Hunter Beer Co.

“Hunter Beer Co has been a bit of a hidden gem, it’s been producing really high quality beer for a long time,” Foghorn founder Shawn Sherlock told the Drinks Adventures podcast.

The overhaul has been completed with a substantial refurbishment of the Potters Hotel bistro, bar and function facilities with a fresh, vibrant, bright and modern interior.

Renowned local chef Sean Townsend, formerly of hatted restaurant Muse Kitchen and more recently the Prince of Merewether, has taken over the kitchen at the pub now known as The Mighty Hunter.

“For me, being able to return to Pokolbin was something I knew I always wanted to do, and the opportunity with the Mighty Craft group is not only around producing great food, but also allows me huge personal growth,” Townsend says.

“The guys at Mighty Craft are all about empowering those that run their venues and want us to be involved in building something, and that is quite unique.

“My approach for The Mighty is to produce clever but uncomplicated and approachable fare using only the best local ingredients.”

Founders First CEO Mark Haysman says The Mighty Hunter will act as a showcase for its portfolio of brands, also including Sauce Brewing Co, Jetty Road Brewery, Kangaroo Island Spirits and Slipstream Brewing.

“We fell in love with Potters when we first visited and instantly knew it was the perfect place for us to build a community and share our products,” he says.

“We hope over time The Mighty becomes a must visit destination for anyone coming to the Hunter Valley.”
