Tim Pelquest-Hunt appointed chief winemaker by Orlando Wines

Orlando Wines

Orlando Wines has announced a new chief winemaker, Tim Pelquest-Hunt, following the brand’s relaunch in 2020.

It’s an internal promotion for Pelquest-Hunt, who has been working with Pernod Ricard Winemakers in the Barossa Valley since 2013, following career stints in Hunter Valley, Tasmania, New Zealand, Rheinhessen (Germany), West Sussex (UK) and Napa Valley (US).

A graduate of Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University in New Zealand, Pelquest-Hunt was dux of the Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine Assessment Course and a scholar of the Len Evans Tutorial 2022.

“To be entrusted with custodianship of an iconic and historic wine brand in Orlando is extremely humbling,” said Pelquest-Hunt.

“Orlando was formulative in developing my love of wine, none more so than Steingarten Riesling, which was the first six-pack of wine I ever purchased.

“I look forward to continuing this legacy while influencing the evolution of wine styles that will excite palates everywhere.”
